Milan is Piazza Duomo, the fashion quadrilateral, but also its neighborhoods, the suburbs that sometimes have to play an important game against urban and social decay. And with the spirit of continuing to embrace its City, after the experience under the Arch of Peace, Allianz Milano will be tomorrow with two of its symbols, the captain Matteo Piano and the opposite Petar Dirlic in Piazza Selinunte at the “Villaggio dello Sport ”. The event which aims to repeat last year’s success is organized by CSI Milano – together with Kairos, Consorzio Sir and numerous local associations. The appointment is for Saturday 23 September, from 2.00 pm, in the parking spaces adjacent to the former municipal market in Piazza Selinunte.
It will be the perfect opportunity to build community and to test yourself in various sporting challenges: football, volleyball, basketball, skateboarding, BMX and climbing, to try on the highly anticipated rock wall more than 8 meters high. There will be no shortage of representatives of sporting and local institutions, from CONI Lombardia to members of Municipality 7 and the Municipality of Milan. The main objective of CSI Milano and the entities involved is to liven up the Selinunte neighborhood through games, to offer families the opportunity to experience a moment of leisure and sharing, using sport as a social accelerator and community generator. «We return to the square with a large Sports Village, with enthusiasm and new perspectives for the neighborhood – declared Massimo Achini, President of CSI Milano and vice-president of Allianz Powervolley Milano – We want to keep an attentive eye on Selinunte open, to let its inhabitants live and not just unique moments that contribute to building aggregation and community. A party in the square is an experience of beauty.”
«I see the open spaces in the neighborhoods as modern courtyards, where to live and play, create community and get together – comments the captain of Allianz Milan, Matteo Piano – Milan is big and, as we did in the camps this summer, we must try to infect it even more more in sport and its values, from the center to the outskirts where there are sports facilities and where many young and old volleyball enthusiasts live.”
«As our captain Matteo well says – adds Achini – sport is also an accelerator of community, sociability and education. A car park can easily become a place of decay, we will transform it into a sports village to meet children and teenagers. Thinking of having two champions and two giants like Matteo Piano and Petar Dirlic among them with great normality will be the best gift for all the participants. This is the most beautiful face of Milan.”
