The spiker from Viterbo Giuseppe Ottaviani, one of the protagonists of last season, will remain in the shadow of the bell tower of San Paolo for the next one as well. It is from the five championships spent at Maury’s Italiana Assicurazioni Tuscania (complete with a promotion from Serie B to Serie A2) that he never stopped more than one season consecutively in the same company.
“The intent, with the president. – comments Coach Francesco Denora -, was to try to confirm a large part of the squad in order to be able to continue the work begun in the past season. And one of these could only be Giuseppe Ottaviani. I am thrilled that we managed to keep him, and that he will be able to continue to give us experience, balance and quality. We really appreciated his work on and off the pitch: he’s one of those players you can always rely on, even on days when you may not be in great shape. Then he is a ‘fighter’, and manages to pass it on to his companions. We know how important this will also be in the next season, which promises to be of the highest level once again”.
“I’m happy to stay in Cantù for another year – confesses the spiker from Lazio -. I got on well with the club, with the coach and with the group of players, which will partly remain next season. Plus, it’s been a good year, and I’d like to repeat it even if it’s going to be very difficult. Next season will be demanding: one might have thought that with the ‘disappearance’ of Vibo Valentia and Bergamo the fight for the top positions in the standings would have been more open. Instead there are several teams that are gearing up to do very well, even a team like Pineto, which until a few weeks ago seemed to play in Serie A3. But, like every time, the pitch will decide the fate of the tournament”.
“As far as we’re concerned – he concludes – I’m sure we’ll have as much fun as we did for the season that just ended. Repeating what has been done will be very difficult as it has been a fantastic year for us. In any case, we will do our best to be protagonists again, even if, as always, many things have to be put together in the best possible way. On a personal level, I aim to do better than I did last season: confirmation is important, but I’d like to improve as I did less well. And, already knowing the coach and a large part of the team, I know that I will be able to work well from this point of view”
