OmiFer Palmi will be on stage this evening, starting from 6pm, at the “PalaTigliana” in Sorrento with the aim of finding themselves again after the daring home tumble seven days ago against Just British Bari, capable of recovering in the tie- break a match practically lost from 2-0, with a wasteful “Franco Tigano” also leading in the final phase of the third set, at an incredible 2-3. Today, in the match valid for the seventh first day of the regular season of the Serie A3 Volleyball League, “Blue” group, coach D’Amico’s boys (who will not sit on the bench due to sudden family problems), currently tenth with 5 points, they will have to contain the legitimate expectations of Shedirpharma, which from a mid-table position will fight tooth and nail to obtain the maximum result which would allow the team led by Mister Racaniello to project itself towards the top areas of the grid. A test of pride and character will therefore be needed to demonstrate on the pitch the hitherto partially unexpressed potential around which this summer a roster with highly respectable technical values has been put together. It is obvious that pitfalls are always around the corner, especially in a period in which everything seems to be going wrong but it is clear that this is precisely the time to react. Captain Gitto knows this well and, although aware of the difficulties of the match, hopes for the right turning point: “it will be a difficult match, – he highlighted – first of all because we are coming off two defeats which have certainly destabilized us by creating uncertainties within us and then because we’re going to a tough pitch like Sorrento who are a tough team to face, especially at home. We – he added – must try to regain clarity and our certainty in the game which will certainly pass through critical moments during which we should be ready as a team”. However, the cabal seems to smile on the Calabrians who can boast three victories among the four previous direct clashes. Leafing through the almanac, the double victory of OmiFer immediately catches the eye, which in the 2021-22 season won both at home and away with a clear 3-0. The following year, i.e. the last championship, both matches ended in a tie-break with a success for each side: in the first leg, it was the second day, the “Franco Tigano” folded in the final in Massa Lubrense while it emerged victorious with the same result, 3-2, in the return match played within friendly walls.
