After the arrival of setter Daniele Sottile, Cuneo Volley draws again from the lines of the Marches; the spiker Mattia Gottardo will also wear the white and blue uniform.
Born in 2001 and originally from Padua, he already boasts 4 seasons in the Superlega: first in his city for 3 consecutive years and finally the one that just ended at Lube Civitanova.
« I’m really excited at the thought that next season I’ll be wearing Cuneo’s shirt! I really want to grow, do well and bring Cuneo back to where it deserves! The project is very ambitious, I can’t wait to get started and meet my teammates. Coach Battocchio I got to know him two years ago for a short period in the national team, we spoke by phone and we met in the championship final in Trento! I was told that Cuneo is also recognized for its fans, I can’t wait to see them and say hello!” – the first words, full of enthusiasm, by Mattia Gottardo.
« When there was the possibility of taking “Pupi” I told the Club that it was an opportunity not to be missed, because he is a boy who has grit, competitive wickedness and above all passion for this sport. I saw him in training two summers ago with the Junior national team, in preparation for the World Cup which he then won together with his teammates and I was impressed by his character and his ability to stay on the pitch in many different situations. After the season at Lube he arrives with one more experience than the baggage he already had, I think that for the A2 championship he is a very high profile player, very suitable for Cuneo and for the team we want next year.” – coach Matteo Battocchio.
The presentation of Mattia Gottardo will take place tomorrow morning, Thursday 1st June at 10.30 at the Cuneo Inox headquarters in Castelletto Stura, guests of the Pavan family, partners and members of the Biancoblù Club, for the official press conference in front of the major newspapers, local television and radio stations.
