Last season he had chosen to go down in category to face the challenge launched by Pool Libertas Cantù in a Serie A2 Credem Banca that was very different from the one he had left in 2018/2019, when he played for Monini Spoleto. Bet largely won (best block and top scorer of the middle blockers players), so much so that Jonas Aguenier has decided to extend his stay in the shadow of the bell tower of San Paolo also for the next championship, his second consecutive in the Canturina shirt.
“Jonas’ confirmation can be considered a real market coup – comments Coach Francesco Denora -, since he has shown all his worth by establishing himself as one of the best central players, but we certainly didn’t find out! I am extremely happy to be able to restart with a solid foundation like him, decisive on the pitch as much as in the locker room. It is a truly unique example of humility and dedication to work, and the young people in the team will be able to greatly benefit from it. Jonas is a competitive player, and this stimulates me even more because I’m sure that together with the rest of the team, faced with new objectives, he will accept the challenge with enthusiasm”.
“I chose to stay for many reasons – confesses the French centre-back -, but mainly for the team. I got along very well with my teammates, with the Coach, with the President, with all the staff, but what made me decide completely were Francesco’s (Coach Denora, ed) choices for the group of the year next. We have more or less the same philosophy, and having teammates who have the same philosophy is important to me.”
“I believe that the group that has been built – he continues – will help us to better overcome the difficult moments. I’m not saying we won’t have these moments, but I’m sure we will have the right team to get out of it. We are aware of our level, and we are not afraid to say things to each other. I believe that with this team we will be able to increase the level of professionalism in our daily work, and we will also be able to aim for higher goals for Cantù”.
