With the Scudetto won last May 17 to show off the Erreà Sport technical material on the players and staff, Itas Trentino, the Italian champions, met this afternoon at the daily newspaper Arena to start preparing for the season that will see them busy in the defense of the Italian title and in at least two other competitions in addition to the SuperLega (Super Cup and Champions League).
A little less than eight weeks after their debut in the regular season (scheduled for 22 October in Cisterna di Latina), the Gialloblù line-up officially began today to carry out the training program which, right from the start, will be characterized by the presence in the gym of well eight players from the new squad. The other six are instead busy with their respective national teams in view of the imminent start of the European Championship.
Responding to the new coach Fabio Soli’s first call-up today were therefore well-known faces such as the libero Pace and Laurenzano, the opposite Nelli, the spiker Cavuto, the centre-back Berger and the unpublished faces of Alessandro Acquarone (setter), Giulio Magalini ( spiker) and Kamil Rychlicki (opposite). Just the presence from the first day of the hammer taken from Perugia and the former Cisterna technician was inevitably the most interesting element of the gathering, attracting the attention of the many journalists present.
“I won’t deny it, I’ve been waiting for this day for some time – explained the new coach Fabio Soli, on his first real day of work with Trentino Volley – ; I see a lot of enthusiasm around me and I already feel good emotions: the approach has been very positive. The preparation that opens today will have to be mainly focused on three aspects: physical work, with the aim of bringing all the athletes to the same level given that we have elements that have spent a very different summer, finding good ideas to develop the our business and start working already on the game that we will adopt during the season. We must begin to fully enter the mechanisms of a volleyball, ours, which will not be particularly complicated but which always requires great application. We will be lucky enough to be able to work already with eight of the fourteen players in the immediately available squad; it is more than half of the roster and therefore, also thanks to the contribution of the many young people of the junior team who will carry out this first part of preparation with us, we will be able to start having complete sessions similar to those that we will then propose during the season.
