Yesterday Japan was crowned Asian Champion in front of 7,500 spectators in Urmia in Iran by beating Iran 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-18) in the final.

The star of the event was once again the spiker of Allianz Milano, Yuki Ishikawa named MVP of the Championships. Yuki thus replicated the personal success achieved in the last edition won by the Rising Sun, six years ago, a sign of the player’s enviable growth and continuity.

The other personal honors of the tournament went to the Iranian setter Taher Vada, the opposite Esmaeilnezhad (Iran), the spikers Takahashi (Japan) and Raimi (Qatar) the central Onodera (Japan) and Abunabot (Qatar) and the Chinese free .

Japan won the title for the tenth time out of 22 editions (the event is held every two years).

The event confirmed the excellent momentum of Japanese volleyball which obtained the bronze medal in the FIVB’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL). In the final the protagonists were as usual Yuki Ishikawa (Allian Milano), Ran Takahashi (Vero Volley Monza) and Apojit Yuji Nishida (ex Tonno Callipo). Nishida and Ishikawa scored 15 and 14 points, while Takahashi 10.

Good performance in the final also for the former Allianz Milano spiker, Ebadipur, author of 8 points. In the challenge for third place, Qatar won against China.
