As part of the “Soma Green” project, presented and launched last season in order to raise awareness of environmental issues in the area, today it is launching the challenge of ZERO IMPACT!
Any type of activity produces pollution, directly or indirectly, even a reality like Cuneo Volleyball. For this reason the biancoblù movement has strongly wanted to find solutions to compensate and reduce this impact.
As? Through the purchase of a giant bamboo forest that compensates for large quantities of CO2 every day.
The first piece of this challenge was achieved thanks to Acqua S. Bernardo which allowed us to purchase a 100 m² portion of bamboo grove which absorbs no less than 2.6 tons of CO2 in a year, thus fully reducing the impact of over 20,000 km that Serie A2 will cover for away games in the 2023/2024 season.
« I personally thank Antonio Biella and Acqua S.Bernardo for allowing the “Soma Green” project to make a concrete upgrade, helping us to truly obtain the Zero Impact of Serie A2 away games with the purchase of bamboo groves which will sustainably reduce the CO2 emissions. The project launched last season is of great importance to us and we believe in it a lot, and this is why we are proud to have moved on to the next level in just one year, which opens today with the first piece, but which has ambitious goals for which we will work hard until the total and real achievement. – these are the words of Gabriele Costamagna president of Cuneo Volley.
Antonio Biella general manager of Acqua S.Bernardo – « We have been alongside Cuneo Volley for nine seasons, because we strongly believe in the value of sport and its positive impact on the territory, in terms of promoting a healthy lifestyle, and education in the younger generation. Still having the name of San Bernardo on this important shirt fills us with pride, but our journey together wants to set new goals: together we will make the team’s away games impact-free. In fact, we have contributed to the purchase of a bamboo forest which will be used to completely offset the CO2 emissions of Cuneo Volley’s away matches. This too is an important step towards sustainability that S.Bernardo pursues with the firm commitment to achieve zero impact as a company by 2026, the year of the company’s first centenary”.
