In the Sunday postponement of the Regular Season, Farmitalia Catania wins, in its PalaCatania, the first home SuperLega match and the Corso Indipendenza building explodes with joy with the blue and whites winning their first three points of the season.
9pm on 29 October 2023, the kick-off kicks off the first SuperLega match in Catania after 26 years, valid for the second day of the 2023/24 Credem Banca Championship which sees Farmitalia Catania face Volley Cisterna and win 3- 1 (22-25, 26-24, 26-24, 25-14), in a match fought from start to finish, with a fourth set in which the home team’s dominance was absolute in front of almost a thousand people.
Balanced first set, but Cisterna closes the game in his favor. In the second set the home team seemed to have some difficulties initially, but Tondo and Randazzo asserted themselves after taking the lead and managed to close the game with Farmitalia Saturnia (26-24). The third act is an injection of courage for the home team (26-24) who gain even more confidence and in the excitement of the comeback dominates on the pitch, erasing any ambition of a comeback from an expert team like Cisterna. Manavi, MVP of the match, wins the historic match point and an uncatchable ball from Buchegger puts an end to the contest (25-14).
PalaCatania responds to the appeal by filling the stands with a thousand people as the seventh man on the pitch.
