It was a great weekend for all the Emma Villas Siena teams. The first team achieved a great victory in Brescia, the fifth success in the first six days of the championship, which allowed the team coached by coach Gianluca Graziosi to conquer second position in the A2 series championship.

But it was a largely positive week full of satisfactions for the other white and blue teams too. Starting from the team that plays in Serie C, coached by coach Marco Monaci, which won away to Colle Val d’Elsa, the final result was 1-3, against an expert and very competitive team: 22-25, 25-16, 20-25, 21-25 the partials. Some players who are part of the first team also play in the Serie C Emma Villas team: Coser, Pellegrini, Ivanov.

It was the first championship match for the Sienese, on an certainly difficult pitch. Thus Luigi Banella, head of the youth sector of Emma Villas Volley: “Colle is an expert and very well organized team – these are his words. – It has two superior category centre-backs, two quality wingers, it is a team that is destined to have a top championship. We played a very good match, the Pellegrini and Coser bands did very well, Barbanera and Kurtaj played an excellent match as did Ivanov, Peruzzo and Fiorenzani in the centre. During the match, coach Monaci’s measures were also excellent, moving Kurtaj to the center by inserting Fontani, now recovered after physical problems. We had a drop in the second set, but then we recovered in a big way by winning the third and fourth set and thus winning the match. Our goal is to maintain the category: we started off on the right foot, I think it won’t be easy for anyone to win in Colle Val d’Elsa.”

Successes have arrived for the various Sienese youth teams. The Under 19s defeated Club Arezzo 3-0. “We played a great match, clearly winning against a top-quality opponent – says Banella. – We have developed a beautiful and concrete game.”
