The pre-season of Emma Villas Siena ended on a high note, with the important victory achieved by the team trained by coach Gianluca Graziosi at the PalaParenti in Santa Croce sull’Arno. The match, valid for the Parenti Trophy, ended with a result of three sets to one for Siena.
It was the last test match for the blue and white ahead of the start of the championship. The first day of the Serie A2 tournament will be Sunday 15 October, and on that day the Sienese will be engaged in Abruzzo, in Ortona.
Tomorrow the Sienese’s weekly preparation will begin in view of the first official match of the championship.
In Santa Croce sull’Arno, meanwhile, other interesting indications have emerged for the Sienese technical staff. The understanding between the departments is good and the direction of the French setter Thomas Nevot is clear, who remained on the taraflex for all four sets and who among other things was the author in fine style of the second point that closed the fourth set and then the match.
The numbers of the Sienese are good: 50% productivity in attack, 7 winning blocks (Emma Villas recovered in this fundamental after not having created any blocks in the first set), 54% positivity in reception (with 25% perfect ). And then 6 winning serves, three of which were scored by a very inspired Marco Pierotti.
And the Brazilian opposite player Matheus Krauchuk was also very inspired, scoring 20 points at PalaParenti. At the end of the match this was the comment of the Emma Villas Siena volleyball player: “There is only one week left until the start of the championship, we have had an important response and I am happy about it. I believe we can be a very good team, I see that my teammates have a great desire to do and work. Here in Santa Croce we played a good match, we played with determination, the same determination we put into training every day. We can improve a lot, but the path taken is the right one. I am happy with our performance at PalaParenti.”
