Lega Pallavolo Serie A presented the calendar of the 79th edition of the SuperLega Credem Banca championship in live streaming from the Zanhotel Centergross in Bentivoglio (BO).
In addition to the President of Lega Pallavolo Serie A Righi, the President of Fipav Manfredi, all the representatives of the management of the 52 Serie A clubs, already summoned to the meeting in the morning, were present at the event.
After the award ceremony of the Superlega, A2 and A3 series clubs with the awarding of the banners for the trophies won in the season that has just ended, with the interventions of the Presidents and the appointment of the new Lega directors Fabio Mechini and Gabriele Costamagna and Franco Da Re, as well as greetings to the newly promoted teams from Serie B, the event came alive with the presentation and officialization of the calendars.
The rossoblù’s journey in the Regular Season will begin on 22 October 2023 in Taranto against Rana Verona and will end on 3 March 2024 in Catania against the newly promoted Farmitalia Catania.
Midweek shift foreseen by the calendar, even if the dates may undergo changes due to advances or postponements.
At the same time, the dates of the Del Monte SuperCoppa and Coppa Italia 2023/24 were also made official.
The Super Cup will take place on 31 October and 1 November with the semifinals between Trento and Perugia, Piacenza and Civitanova.
The Superlega Final Four will take place on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 January 2024.
Coach Mastrangelo’s statements: “We’re starting uphill right away, we have to try to score points in every game even in the first few days, yes, even if we play with the strongest teams, it’s not easy, but it was obvious, we’re in the Superlega and every game is to face and see what happens. The fundamental moment will be on the third day with Padova, a direct match at home but the mentality is to look for points every time it happens. We will have to be good at doing good preparation because it is a compressed calendar and take advantage when we’ll have the whole week to maintain the highest level of fitness possible because with midweek it’s not logistically easy for us.”
Sporting director Mirko Corsano expresses himself on the market and on possible direct clashes for salvation: ” Let’s say it could have been better!!! Clearly the debut against Verona is not very easy but being the first in the league, anything can happen. In the third, a direct clash is suffered , and we have to get there prepared. Having said that, we must not get stuck on the calendar, but work during it, with professionalism and a lot of confidence and positivity”
