Middle blocker Gianluca Rossi returns to Pool Libertas Cantù. Arrived in the shadow of the San Paolo bell tower at the beginning of the 2022/2023 season, he then accepted the call from Vero Volley Monza to play in the Superlega. Now he returns to the Cantù shirt, not before having played and won the Junior League again with the Monza club, and having participated in the collegiate with the Under 21 national team, led on the bench by the ex Cantù coach Matteo Battocchio.
“I think the return of Gianluca Rossi demonstrates the goodness of our work – says Coach Francesco Denora -, given that he had the pleasure of returning despite the few months spent together. We will certainly find a player who has grown physically after the experience with Vero Volley Monza. Then he is a boy who is hungry and wants to prove himself, and I think that if he can take advantage of Monguzzi and Aguenier’s advice, he will be able to give us a lot of satisfaction”.
“The experience in the Superlega was very good – says the Monza centre-back -: the change was impactful, given that the level of play is higher than in Serie A2. Even though I didn’t play a lot, it was important to me. I feel I grew up with blocking, which was my weak point, and I’m going back to Cantù with the idea of improving even more in this fundamental, of doing better in attack, and of being able to get my space on the pitch. In the two months I stayed at Pool Libertas, in addition to having had a great time with the staff and team, I managed to enter to give my contribution, and next season I will push even harder to do better. The next championship will be very difficult: new teams such as Aversa and Pineto have risen from Serie A3, and there will no longer be one clearly stronger than the others like Vibo Valentia was. On a personal level, I aim to work a lot on my weak points, block and serve, to improve even more. I really have a great desire to play, and I hope to unleash it all on the taraflex”.
