After the reconfirmation of two top players such as captain Gitto and the champion Stabrawa, another move arrives destined to excite the fans and strengthen the team by the Omifer Palmi club which has announced the renewal of the contract of the central strongman Giancarlo Rau for the next season of Serie A3 men’s volleyball.
The decision will probably be greeted with great joy by supporters, who see the Italian-Chilean player as one of the team’s pillars.
Rau, back from a season that ended with a disappointment in the play-offs, expressed his satisfaction with the contract renewal, underlining the interest that the management has shown towards him.
“The fact that the club has shown great interest in me prompted me to renew with Omifer,” he said.
“I’m happy to have renewed the contract, also because I had a bit of a bad taste in my mouth after last year’s finale when we went out in the first round of the play-offs.”
Looking forward to next season, Rau has high expectations and wants to see the team put on a show at Palasurace, the home of the Palmi team. “I expect great things, a team that puts on a show at Palasurace and never gives up,” said the centre-back. “In my opinion, the club has moved very well, it has built a top-level team for this category, so now it will be up to us to prove it on the field every day.”
Despite last year’s disappointment, Rau underlined some positives from last season that he wants to take with him. “Save the hard work from last season, the strong ambition that will not be missing again this year,” he said. “I would start again from Palasurace who gave us that extra edge last year, from the grit and warmth of the Palmi crowd and from Captain Gitto who was exemplary last season. Finally, I would like to say to the fans that I am even more excited from last year and I can’t wait to embrace them again”.
