Back from the traditional three closing days of the Volley Market in Bologna, the red and white general manager Beppe Cormio has his say on the Cucine Lube Civitanova calendar in the SuperLega Credem Banca 2023/24. The red and white manager speaks of a substantial balance between the contenders and in the succession of rounds, but expresses his fear regarding the problematic joints with the Italian and international cups that will see the team from the Marches in contention. Final comment with a lot of appeal to supporters of Lube. The debut of Chicco Blengini’s men in the championship is expected at home against Monza on Sunday 22 October 2023.
DG Beppe Cormio:
“My workhorse for 30 years now is that sooner or later you have to play with everyone and I don’t pay much attention to the succession of matches. Since the calendar has become so compressed and other commitments have been added, such as the Super Cup, the Italian Cup and the Champions League, I’ve been going to see the joints between competitions more. In this case our journey becomes a little more complicated. The picture of the Regular Season seems fair to me, in the first round we will host teams like Monza, Perugia and Trento, in the return we will have Milan, Modena and Piacenza at home. It’s not so good, however, that some commitments are very close to other tournaments. Presumably, we will play the Super Cup in the Far North. Even if they tried to bring us a little closer with the away match in Padua in the second round, two days later we will play the semi-final of the first trophy of the season and it won’t be easy to prepare, given the bus journey. We will also have a Champions League round very close to the match against Modena, to give another example. These calculations worry me, but the tournament is balanced with at least seven contenders for the Scudetto. The number of big matches exceeds the slightly softer matches on paper. Now it is difficult to evaluate what is extracted or programmed by the machines, while we must be happy to return to play in front of a large audience. There was a good response in the first part of the Subscription Campaign. I invite all the fans to show affection and to take the season cards. We need them. It will be a show already in the first two home matches, with Monza and Perugia. I am confident, we promise battle”.
