And there are five victories obtained by Emma Villas Siena in the first six days of the A2 series volleyball championship. Furthermore, the Tuscans have won in all three away matches played up to this point: first in Ortona, on their championship debut, then in Reggio Emilia and finally yesterday in Brescia, against a team that had just obtained a clear victory on the Ravenna field. The Sienese also managed to overturn the situation in Lombardy, after having found themselves trailing by two sets to one.
Thanks to the tiebreak success achieved at the San Filippo sports center, Emma Villas Siena also gained a position in the rankings, moving from third to second place in the ranking. First, and alone at the top of the rankings, remains Grottazzolina, with 3 points more than Siena, and which after beating Prata di Pordenone remained the only undefeated team of the tournament.
Emma Villas Siena will play its next championship match against Ravenna, one of the favorites for the final victory of the championship. The match will be played again at the PalaParenti in Santa Croce sull’Arno. The match will kick off at 7pm on Saturday 18 November.
The players of Emma Villas Siena were satisfied after the victory in Brescia. Thus commented the libero and captain of the Tuscan team Federico Bonami: “Brescia is a very strong team, they have already demonstrated it during this season – were his words. – It was a difficult match and there was a good team performance from us. We managed to suffer, we remained clear until the tiebreak. In point to point the mental part makes the difference. It’s very good to win on such a complicated field, this must be fuel for us in view of the next races to be played.”
These are the words of Emma Villas Siena centre-back, Riccardo Copelli: “Brescia is an expert team with important players. Ours was a victory of character, Consoli Sferc is a team structured to have a top tournament and with a setter of great quality like Tiberti. It was therefore an excellent test for us. It went well, we are happy. We could have been more clear in the first set, yes. I think we were good at preparing for the match, Brescia is a very strong team in attack but we saw that perhaps they could concede something in reception.”
