The first week of the Farmitalia Saturnia retreat ends today. Meetings, meetings with managers, scheduling appointments and, for the players, training that started the path that will lead the blue and white to the first match of the season against Sir Safety Perugia, on 22nd October.
Day after day the intensity of training has increased and, as Mr. Waldo Kantor tells us, next week will already be a completely different story: “We started right away with individual technical training with just a few jumps to get the body used to it, starting with knees and shoulders, to the increase in intensity that we will have next week, when we will field more dynamic and global game exercises. It will certainly not be six against six on the first day, but the players need to regain confidence with the ball and we will have to work to get into the useful rounds to be in the game at the start of the season”.
The pre-season calendar is full of commitments and already in the coming weeks the blue and whites will also start with joint training sessions, the first of which is scheduled for 20 September when, at the PalaCatania, in an open training session to which all the Sicilian volleyball enthusiasts will be able to attend a small Trinacria derby against Avimecc Modica, the other Sicilian team that competes in the Credem Banca national championship, but in the A3 series.
Finally, today the Iranian player Javad Manavinezhad joins the team, while the Serbian Nemanja Masulovic will arrive in Sicily at the end of the European Volleyball Championships in which he is involved with his national team.
