Emma Villas Siena has resumed its weekly work in view of the next scheduled appointment, which is set for Sunday 17 December. The opponent will be Porto Viro and it will be an important challenge from a playoff perspective: the Sienese are currently fifth in the standings with 19 points, Delta Group is in seventh position with 17 points.
Porto Viro has so far put together five victories and six defeats and is fresh from defeats at home against Santa Croce and then in the tiebreak in Cantù. In Brianza, Nicola Tiozzo’s 20 points, Felice Sette’s 20 points and Tommaso Barotto’s 17 were not enough for the Delta Group to achieve success. The expert setter Garnica leads the team, which also includes former Emma Villas players Matteo Zamagni and Rocco Barone, who are now Porto Viro’s centre-backs.
In Cantù the Delta Group closed the match with 45% in attack and 58% positivity in reception. Six winning serves, four of which scored by Felice Sette.
The two teams will therefore seek prompt redemption on Sunday, attempting to gain useful and important points in the fight to reach the playoffs.
The statistics say that Siena does better at blocking: 2.24 winning blocks per set for Emma Villas against 1.67 for Porto Viro.
In attack, Delta Group has 50.9% productivity, Siena has 43.6%.
The reception data was similar: Porto Viro recorded 28.6% perfect results, Siena 28.2%.
Emma Villas has so far achieved 56 winning serves compared to 40 for Porto Viro.
The twelfth matchday will be played entirely on Sunday 17 December: at 4pm the match between Santa Croce and Grottazzolina; at 5pm the Aversa-Brescia match; at 6pm Porto Viro-Siena, Castellana Grotte-Ravenna, Cuneo-Prata di Pordenone. Finally, at 7 pm, the Reggio Emilia-Ortona and Pineto-Cantù races will start.
