After the cycle of four matches in eight days closed with the victory over Sir Susa Vim Perugia in the Regular Season and in view of an intense calendar between SuperLega Credem Banca and Cev Champions League, the central defender Enrico Diamantini is training with great intensity together with his teammates Lube kitchens Civitanova. Three very delicate matches are just around the corner for the red and whites: the away match in Milan on Sunday 12 November (6pm), the midweek match on Wednesday 15 November with Catania at the Eurosuole Forum (8.30pm) and the blitz in Modena on Sunday 19 November (4pm). Then the European home debut.
Experience and awareness have enriched your baggage, but such a spirited Diamantini highlights a new side.
Diamantini: “Growing up when you play in an important and successful club like Lube is consequential. I feel like I have already matured in the last championship, my path has also served this purpose. What I am certain of is the high quality of team play achieved quickly by the team and this helps us all. If I then take the field with a bonus of determination I can’t say, but the commitment is always maximum and I can face very demanding matches with an inner tranquility that is the result of greater confidence.”
After a few rounds, how do you consider the initial stop with Monza?
“In our debut we didn’t play well, we found ourselves facing a perfect Mint Vero Volley and we know that the first match is always very treacherous. When it’s cold I can say that in the following races we managed to correct the course, but even with Monza we fought point for point in 2 sets despite not expressing ourselves at our best. We have grown, Eccheli’s men also made Perugia sweat in individual matches, but without reaping the benefits. Then they conquered Modena and Verona. You get certain results if you have a very competitive game. For years the Brianza company has been offering brilliant tests and it is no longer a surprise. We changed pace in the Super Cup, we can grow… and have fun.”
How do you experience the rejuvenation of the team? After so many successes, is your hunger for victories the same?
“In the red and white locker room the interpreters and identity cards change, but the talent and the desire to achieve goals with work and determination are always present. We are talking about a Club that has won everything and aims every year to go all the way in every tournament, even after any revolutions in the roster. It takes little time for new athletes to understand the importance of the shirt and to embrace our philosophy. At Lube we aim for the maximum, there is no middle ground.
