For the first time in its history, Pool Libertas Cantù will play the semi-finals of the Del Monte® Coppa Italia Serie A2. The opponent of Coach Francesco Denora’s boys, however, is difficult: it is in fact the current second in the standings, that of BCC Castellana Grotte that the Canturini have beaten only once in 11 seasons in the second national category (3-1 in the regular season first leg match) in 9 previous matches, and who will be able to count on all the warmth of the home crowd. The kick-off is scheduled for Wednesday 18 January 2023 at 20.30 at the PalaGrotte in the Apulian town.
Coach Francesco Denora presents the challenge like this: “We are certainly a little excited about this match: it represents a lot for us and for the path we have taken so far, and reaching the final would be something extraordinary and historic for this club. This does not mean that we will be betrayed by emotion, on the contrary, we are ready to transform it into enthusiasm and competitive spirit. The race promises to be very difficult: it will have nothing to do with the championship one. We have to try to express our best ball change, to then find the right moments to sting in the break. There are many factors against it, but they don’t scare us: on the contrary, we really care a lot, and we will put the classic knife between our teeth”.
