Setter Daniele Sottile takes charge just a few days before the internal challenge between Cucine Lube Civitanova and Allianz Milano, a team in which the Sicilian athlete played for a short period of time in the 2015/16 season. The Italian champions are preparing to compete for three key points to definitively secure fourth place.
Daniele Sottile: “As I had announced when things weren’t going very well, the possibility of training well, without midweek matches, helped us to be more incisive, but that’s always the case if there are many young players in the group and you have the time to take care of the technical aspects. When, in addition to talent, there is education, humility, desire to work and make oneself available, the fruits can be seen and this does not only apply to volleyball. The championship victories arrived with Cisterna, Piacenza and Siena. In the end, the results proved us right, but we have to give continuity. The Play Offs are upon us. Before that we have to be ready in the last two matches to close the first phase with the best possible placement and we have to assert ourselves in the double challenge of the CEV Champions League Quarter-finals against Halkbank Ankara. We were good at taking advantage of the activity in the gym by adapting to the calendar. Given that it’s always and only the pitch that speaks and that for me Piacenza is a top tier team, with players prepared for inside or outside clashes, what Gas Sales did in the Coppa Italia is an important signal. In the various stages of the season there are important opportunities to be seized. I just think about last year, when we emerged from a complicated situation and beat the favorites for the Scudetto. We have to believe in it and work, we are confident in our means. Now, however, we have to think one match at a time, starting with the match against Milan at home, the three points would give us the certainty of having the favorable home factor in the quarter-final series”.
