Vero Volley Monza’s last home match of the 5th place Play Off Group ends with a 3-0 win over Pallavolo Padova. At the Monza Arena, Beretta and his teammates impose themselves on Padova Volleyball in an hour and a half, getting ever closer to the Semifinal goal (the top four of the standings fly) and bringing home the second success in the competition after the one at the tie break on Modena on the first day. What made the difference for the hosts, in addition to the offensive verve well played by Szwarc, Maar and Davyskiba (all three in double figures, the first MVP of the match), well served by an inspired Fernando Kreling in directing, the greater lucidity in the central phases of the first and second partial. Once out to sea (16-12 in the first fraction and 16-11 in the second) Monza proved to be good at keeping the advantage, sprinting with determination in the final despite the attempts to return as guests led by Takahashi and Desmet. In the third set Cuttini tries to change everything by inserting Gardini, Volpato and Asparuhov, but apart from the advantage in the prologue (8-5) it is Monza, with the entry of Grozer and a couple of excellent defenses and precise goals, to get excited and fly with a nice break until the final 25-22. Victory at the tie break of Sir Safety Susa Perugia in the third day of the group stage of the Play Offs 5th place. The Block Devils beat WithU Verona 3-2 after a roller coaster match. Perugia did very well in the first set, then a good reaction from Verona who first equalized and then overtook. The home side returned to shooting hard from nine meters and playing well in the break phase, winning fourth and fifth. Attack and block are the fundamentals that make the difference for the black and whites who have better percentages under the net (56% effectiveness against 43% in attack, 16 winning blocks against 7 for the Scala players).
