The Christmas match of the Super League championship is approaching. On Boxing Day, Cisterna Volley will be on the pitch at the sports hall in Viale delle Province di Cisterna for the match against Mint Vero Volley Monza for the match valid for the eleventh day of the top men’s volleyball championship.
«We are certainly not playing our best volleyball, we are all aware of this and the most unfortunate thing is not having been able to take advantage of the opportunities that arose against our direct competitors – explains Andrea Rossi, center and captain of Cisterna Volley – C ‘There’s a lot of work to do and we need to be more cynical in decisive situations: we’ll have to do this against Monza too.” In the standings, the Monza team is fighting for the top as, with 20 points, they are just five points behind the top, while Cisterna Volley is looking for big points with just seven points in the standings, followed by Taranto (6 points) and Catania (4 points).
Cisterna Volley comes from four consecutive defeats, respectively against Modena (1-3), Perugia (3-1), Lube (1-3) and Verona (3-0), and the Pontini’s last success dates back to November 19th last in the daring comeback success (3-2) against Taranto: from 0-2 to 3-2 with the tie-break snatched from the 17-15 advantage. Monza comes from two consecutive successes: away to Catania (1-3) and at home against Padova (3-0).
«The match against Cisterna is a match that can crown a very good first part of the season for us, it is a great opportunity to get into the top four and have the field factor for the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup – Coach Max Eccheli (Mint Vero Volley Monza) – It is certainly a match worth double, not only for the points up for grabs, but also for having this considerable advantage. Clearly everything depends on this match and how we will face it: we will have to stay focused and be ready for a sporting battle, against a team that needs to score points.”
