The match between Gamma Chimica and Sol Lucernari Montecchio Maggiore scheduled for Sunday 22 January (at 6.00 pm live on the Legavolley YouTube channel) at Paolo VI in Brugherio opens the seventeenth day, fourth of the return leg, of the Serie A3 Credem Banca championship.
Challenge number five is the one coming up against the Venetian formation of former rosanero Aleksandar Mitkov, two seasons here with us in the Diavoli jersey (2019/20 and 2021/22). The balance is two wins for coach Durand’s team and three for Sol, the last of which came in the first leg match 3-1 at PalaCollodi.
Brugherio-Montecchio are returning from two defeats (3-0 Brugherio against Mirandola, 2-3 Montecchio against San Donà), divided in the standings by 5 points (10th place Montecchio with 19 points, result of 7 wins and 9 defeats, 12th place Diavoli with 14 points, 5 wins, 10 defeats and one game still to recover) and with numbers in the regular season that tend to be equivalent in every fundamental. It goes without saying that Sunday’s face-to-face will be fundamental, which for Gamma Chimica would mean re-tasting confidence and morale given the stop on direct rival Mirandola, gained last round.
The guardian of the second row of the rosanero, the libero, born in 2005, Andrea Marini, tells us about that result, as well as about Sunday’s appointment and the team’s performance.
Andrea, we are returning from a bad defeat against Mirandola. How would you summarize the 3-0? I think Mirandola was very good at making the most of the home court factor while our approach to the match wasn’t the best and together with our inexperience it was a mix that led us to lose the match.
In general it is a period of ups and downs. What are they due to and what do you think is important to do to change course? Most likely they are given by our inexperience but we must not pass it off as a normal thing and the only way out is to work harder than before, with more seriousness. I am sure that by doing so we will change course very soon.
