The azzurri Simone Giannelli and Roberto Russo have flown to Holland in Rotterdam for their summer debut with the Italian national team. Starting tomorrow the second week of VNL will start which will see Italy on the field in Pool 3 facing Iran, China, Serbia and Poland. Ninth in the standings after the first week of competitions, De Giorgi’s Italy is looking for victories and points to climb positions with the top eight at the end of the qualifying phase which will access the Final Eight in Gdansk in Poland. Poland sixth in the provisional standings and also present in Rotterdam with Wilfredo Leon in the squad on his debut in the competition, while Semeniuk is on the field in the first week of competitions for a rest. Black and white challenge between Italy and Poland scheduled for Sunday 25 June.
Pool 4 is being played at the same time in Orleans, France, which sees Flavio Gualberto’s Brazil on the field, currently fifth in the standings, Jesus Herrera’s Cuba, thirteenth after the first week of matches, and Gregor Ropret’s Slovenia, momentarily fourth force in the VNL extension. A match to score for the Juventus fans Slovenia-Cuba on Thursday 22 June and Brazil-Slovenia on Saturday 24 June.
