A satisfied Chicco Blengini comments on the first seasonal test of Cucine Lube Civitanova, which took to the field on Friday afternoon at the Eurosuole Forum for joint training with Abba Pineto, the A2 Credem Banca team. The red and white coach applauded his team, capable of imposing itself 3-1, without the national teams, but with the support of two athletes from the nursery and with the inclusion, during the match, of some young foreign talents who are training with the Lube during the preseason.
Coach Gianlorenzo Blengini:
“As well as having the right attitude on the pitch, it was also important for us to put the work done so far to good use. I think the boys succeeded or at least tried to move well. In volleyball you have to give everything, have priorities and follow them, just like the team did despite not having much technical work in the body. Of course that’s not enough. Regardless of the result, the first tests are useful for picking up the pace and finding the game. The Thelle Understanding? What he calls a ‘connection’ is built over time. Jakob is working in the right direction to get to the kind of volleyball we are looking for. Our setter has to deal with a game similar to the one developed in American colleges, but then striker for striker you have to find the right alchemy. I asked him to use the first few times a lot because it is on that type of understanding that the game then develops. After two weeks of preparation we don’t need to take stock because we are still a long way off, but we are putting a lot of work into our legs. We must train with the head, tiredness must be counterbalanced by the right attitude: fatigue must not prevail over willpower, pain from workloads must not spoil application and intensity. When the body is affected by the accumulation of work, brilliance can be lost, but the mental part must also be trained. Feeling unwell today increases the chances of feeling well later, when it counts. Next week we will be even more tired. We will have to proceed with the development of the game idea and then welcome the other kids later, when they arrive”.
