2023 CEV Champions League will experience the last round of the group stage on Wednesday 25 January. On this occasion, Trentino Itas will play its third continental match away, playing the sixth round of Pool D in Poland, guest of the two-time European champions in charge of Grupa Azoty Kedzierzyn-Kozle. At the Azoty Arena kick-off scheduled for 20.30 Italian time: live Radio Dolomiti and discovery+.
Still with full points and already certain of finishing in first place in the group, a result that guaranteed direct access to the quarter-finals, the Gialloblù team is looking for a further positive result to finish the first phase with the best possible score and therefore being able to enter a part of the draw on the simplest card, given that the definition of the Playoffs grid is made taking into account the ranking of all the qualifiers.
The Trentino Itas coach will have to do without Oreste Cavuto and Srecko Lisinac, who remained in Trento to support a differentiated program in view of the next important commitments. The Serbian centre-back had gone out during the third set of Saturday night’s match in Civitanova due to a lumbar pain, a situation that advised the medical staff to spare him the long continental trip, which will see Trentino Itas return only on Thursday night. The Belgian centre-back D’Heer is therefore back on the launching pad, who started the last two sets of the match against Cucine Lube and the entire previous Champions League match against Menen.
The one underway is the twelfth away game ever for Trentino Volley in Poland, the foreign country visited the most times in the yellow-blue history for a total of eighteen games played and just four lost. The first absolute match played in this country dates back to 4 March 2009 (3-1 victory in Czestochowa), while the last is related to 2 December 2018, when they beat Cucine Lube Civitanova 3-1 in the Final of the Club World Cup of Czestochowa the Club of via Trener conquered the world title for the fifth time. Since then the Gialloblù club had never landed in this country again. The appointment will represent the 161st European match in the club’s history, the 121st ever in the Champions League.
