Pala Grotte lights up again after 21 days: after the stop in Porto Viro and above all after the three-point success in Cuneo, the Bcc Tecbus Castellana Grotte, for the eighth day of the national A2 Credem Banca men’s volleyball championship, hosts the Emma Villas Siena. A very respectable opponent for the yellow-blue team trained by coach Simone Cruciani who thus christen their return home after two weeks facing what is currently the third strongest team in the tournament.
The enthusiasm aroused after the victory in Cuneo (the second of the season after that of Pineto, both of which curiously came away) prepared the environment, the club and the team for a certainly not easy match: Siena, with 14 points and above all with a roster of great quality, will also arrive in Puglia with the aim of quickly canceling the home defeat against Ravenna seven days ago.
Presenting the challenge against the Tuscans is coach Cruciani himself who spent five seasons in Siena, in the Super League and Serie A2, in two distinct experiences, between 2015 and last year, on the technical staff: “Siena is a difficult opponent like Cuneo was, as was Grottazzolina. He has a diagonal of undoubted value and also in the other roles he has very respectable players. Having said that, in our journey and for our championship, it doesn’t make a big difference: every week we find ourselves facing well-trained and high-quality teams, every week we work to improve our level of play and our identity, regardless of who we face”.
“Moreover – continued the 37-year-old Umbrian coach – this is a very balanced championship. There are many teams aiming for the top of the table. Siena is certainly one of these and on Sunday at Pala Grotte they will want to redeem themselves from what I believe is their first real misstep of the season. We will still focus on the team and the group to give our best and to give the first joy to our fans.”
