Emma Villas Aubay Siena continues its preparation in view of the salvation challenge which will be played on Sunday 29 January starting at 3.30 pm at the PalaEstra. Yesterday the team had an afternoon work session in the sports hall in viale Sclavo, today instead they will carry out a double training session.
The opponent of the day (and it will be the sixth day of the second round) will be Pallavolo Padova, which in the standings precedes the Sienese team by 2 lengths (there are 14 points for the Venetians against 12 for the Tuscans) and which last day defeated Taranto 3-0 at home, with 18 points scored by Takahashi and 16 by Asparuhov. Padova closed the match with Taranto with 48% in attack and closed the partials against the Apulians on 25-21, 25-21, 25-20.
The ranking is now shorter and sees three teams in just two points fighting for permanence in the Superlega championship: Padova has 14 points, Taranto 13, Siena has 12.
The pre-sale to attend the Siena-Padua match has already started on the CiaoTickets circuit.
“We will play a decidedly important match against Padova – comments the vice president of Emma Villas Aubay Siena, Fabio Mechini. – We will try to get to this match in the best possible way. Unfortunately during the home match against Cisterna there was an injury to Giulio Pinali, a very bad moment that touched us deeply. We all wish Giulio the best of luck for the surgery he will carry out and for his speedy recovery”.
Mechini again on the match against Padova: “I hope that the boys can still do good things on the pitch. The team is following the indications of the coaching staff and is doing a good job. A very good percentage in attack stands out, which we have recorded in the last few matches, and a clearly decreasing number as regards errors. Even the serve is a fundamental that is giving good results not so much in direct points as in its quality, with implications for our defense as well. We mustn’t think too much about the first leg match against Padova, in fact we played a bad game, with the wrong approach and with excessive fear”.
