The power of Arthur Szwarc will be available to coach Massimo Eccheli and Vero Volley Monza for the second consecutive season. The Canadian opposite born in ’95, decisive in some moments of the sporting year that has just ended, where he also graduated MVP three times (Monza vs Taranto, 2nd day of return, Monza vs Cisterna, 8th day of return, Monza vs Padova, 3rd day of the Play Offs group 5th place), will be in the department together with the Frenchman Ibrahim Lawani between Italy, in SuperLega Credem Banca, and Europe, in the CEV Challenge Cup 2024.
There were 32 appearances that Szwarc, author of 197 points (13 aces and 18 blocks), collected for the Monza shirt, all enhanced by important plays and excellent rounds from nine meters which often facilitated the break phase of the Brianza team. Currently engaged with the Canadian national team at VNL 2023, Szwarc has also worn the Cisterna shirt in his career, making himself the protagonist of positive seasons (from 2019 to 2022), the last of which was conditioned by a bad injury (rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee). Raised at the University of York, with whom he played three seasons, and later with the FTC Team Canada (16/17), his first European experience dates back to the 17/18 season, in which he played with the French side Arago Sete.
Curiosity: he was born in Canada to Polish parents (for this reason he also has a Polish passport). He started playing as a central defender, moving to the opposite role permanently in the 2021/2022 football season. He has been part of the Canadian senior selection since 2017, the year of the Bronze medal in the World League. Two years later he took third place in the NORCECA Championship, also being called up to represent his country at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
