Second joint training for Pool Libertas Cantù in preparation for the 2023/2024 season. Coach Francesco Denora Caporusso’s boys faced Moyashi Garlasco, who will play the Serie A3 Credem Banca championship, winning all 5 sets played.
Coach Francesco Denora Caporusso starts with Matteo Pedron as setter, Kristian Gamba as opposite, Lorenzo Magliano and Giuseppe Ottaviani as spikers, Dario Monguzzi and Jonas Aguenier as central defenders, and Luca Butti as libero. During the joint training the coach from Cantù tested all the players at his disposal, obtaining good responses from all.
In the first set Monguzzi’s turn at serve launched his team (5-0), who then extended their lead with a good team game (14-6); Moyashi gets closer (14-10), but Pool Libertas pushes their opponents back (21-13) and closes with Gamba (25-16). Also in the second set Cantù starts immediately ahead with the Captain’s turn to serve (9-4) and extends with a block from Rossi (13-6); it is Magliano again from nine meters who places the decisive break (19-10), and it is another block from Rossi that closes (25-14). In the third set the Pavia team leads (4-6, 9-11), until Pedron’s turn in zone 1 which turns the situation around (15-13); the guests disjoin, and the canturini close (25-20). In the fourth set Ottaviani’s turn of service launches his team (5-0); Moyashi doesn’t stand by and watches, she recovers (13-10), but is pushed back (16-10); Garlasco comes back again (16-14) and draws at 17; the balance remains until the end, which sees the home team prevail (25-23). In the fifth set, the guests went ahead (1-4) and repelled their opponents’ comeback attempts; the draw reaches 12, and the set ends only with the advantages (16-14).
Top scorer is Lorenzo Magliano, with 24 points (4 aces, 2 blocks and 58% in attack). The serve was excellent, with 9 aces against 12 errors. Team attack stuck at 48%, the result of 14 blocks conceded and 7 errors, but a peak of 64% for Bacco. Good block, with 12 for the team and two each for Magliano, Monguzzi, Bacco, Rossi and Gamba.
“Right now we need to put fuel in our legs – comments Coach Francesco Denora Caporusso –. We are doing important physical work, and these training sessions serve us not only to try out game situations, but also to have fun and ‘unload’ the week. Definitely good performance for the result. I’m sorry that we didn’t do much on some things we’re working hard on. We still have to work on it, but if there was nothing to work on it would be a problem.”
