Alessandro Piccinelli, after the experience in Perugia and after the Volleyball Nations League played with the national team, is ready to wear his new libero jersey of Cisterna Volley. The Superlega will officially begin on October 22nd, with the home debut against the Italian champions of Trento, and the new libero of the pontini is preparing to experience this new adventure.
«I’m coming from a very long season, which started with the past Vnl and reached this last one, then in the middle the preparation for the World Cup that Italy won and this helped me to understand that we always need to push a little more – says Alessandro – After the last championship with Perugia I had the chance to live this experience as a protagonist: I will face the season with dedication and with the desire to help create a group that will also have to be capable of suffering given that we are involved in the most difficult in the world. The team? A very nice mix between experienced and young players, this can help a lot. Goals? I never set myself limits but it’s hard to say where we can go: I’m sure that with the hard work we will be able to achieve the goals that the club has set for us».
Also this summer was very hot for the new free of Cisterna Volleyball. «After the wedding I immediately left for boarding school and then I participated in the phase that was played in the Philippines and then, with the continuation of the VNL, I have always been on the ropes with the possibility of being called again: even if the call it didn’t arrive for the final stage, I’ve always been close to my teammates, even from the sofa at home when it was necessary. Now I’m preparing with weight sessions and waiting for the call for the European Championship and then the Olympic qualifiers. We await all these events with our fingers crossed and with the utmost availability and desire to give my contribution, then there will be the Superlega and it will be another great adventure to be enjoyed together with the new club, the coach and the technical staff and together with the new companions”.
Coach Guillermo Falasca will be able to count on Piccinelli, an athlete who in the past also won the gold medal at the 2019 Universiade.
«The summer of the Universiade, in which we won gold, actually opened an important path in my career since I had the opportunity to join the senior national team – concluded Piccinelli – Great emotion also for the victory of the European Championship two years ago and then the adventure in Perugia where I was awarded as the best receiver of the 2021/2022 championship».
