Alessandro Pagliai is now an institution in S. Croce sull’Arno. Sports Director, soul of the men’s sector, designated technical guide of Serie B and the Under 19, will also cover the role of assistant coach of the A2 Credem Banca team from next season. It is actually a return to the past, because Pagliai has already honored the position in other managements, the most recent being that of coach Montagnani, without forgetting the support of Cezar Douglas in the Brazilian coach’s first experience in Santa Croce, when he was called to fill the role of bench owner (2019-20 season). In this lap he will be “second” to Michele Bulleri, continuing the collaboration born at the end of last championship, once the era of Vincenzo Mastrangelo is over. The coach from Prato accepted the Company’s proposal with a spirit of service but also with satisfaction, as a lover of the red and white colors, increasingly involved in the affairs of the beloved Wolves.
Pagliai, as a player, reached A2 with his hometown team (Centromatic Prato) and then moved to Lupi in the 1992-93 season, remaining there for four years. The transition from the field to the bench materialized in the seasons spent at the helm of the historic Blu Pub Pistoia (series B) and then in other prestigious Tuscan realities.
In 2007 the red and white association “recalled” him first as Sports Director, then still on the bench, between 2012 and 2015, a period in which the Wolves distinguished themselves with top championships in the national B series.
With the return to A2 Credem Banca, Pagliai returned to the role of D.S. and talent scout, while continuing to take care of the first team, as second coach and sometimes even as a starter, not only in the aforementioned season with Cezar Douglas, but also in 2018-19, as a substitute. In the last two years, with the launch of the youth training enrolled in Serie B, he has mainly been involved in training the future Wolves, working a lot on the nursery and centering regional titles and qualifying for the national finals, with the various Under 19s. From next year he will also return to dealing directly with the “grown-ups”, without giving up work on the boys. A considerable commitment, which he will certainly be able to carry out with his usual availability and professionalism.
“The fact that a large part of the roster is made up of athletes who will also play in Serie B, some even Under 19, made my new approach to Kemas Lamipel of A2 natural. I will therefore be able to manage them at three hundred and sixty degrees, in close collaboration with Michele Bulleri, in addition to performing the normal functions of second”.
