“After the DelMonte® Coppa Italia Serie A2 semi-final, I told Dario that if we didn’t win a trophy he couldn’t stop – confesses Coach Francesco Denora -. He replied that he had no intention of quitting, and so here we are: now only the trophy is missing. I certainly don’t have to introduce Monguzzi: last season, after returning from a long stop, it was expected that he would have worked to get back to his best, but I challenge anyone to say that he would have done it this way. A season of the highest level in every fundamental, and as a true leader in the locker room. Watching him stop and make jokes at the end of training was a really great example for the younger ones: in short, we just couldn’t do without him!”.
“I’m happy to stay in Cantù for another season season, my nineteenth, I’ve become ‘of age’ – says the Captain from Cantù -. I strongly wanted the season that just ended: it wasn’t obvious, however I had to work well and win the place. I seem to be better than a few years ago, and in this championship I’ve gained a lot of satisfaction thanks to the help of my teammates, especially at the beginning, when I knew it wouldn’t be easy to resume after a year’s break. I thank the club that has believed in me for a very long time: I think it’s a mutual respect that binds me to Cantù, and for which Cantù is tied to me. With the President there has never been a single moment in which there was doubt, and this makes me very happy”.
