Libero and spiker, Matteo Maccarrone and Roberto Battaglia are the young Sicilian bets of Saturnia Volley who had already given great support to the team in the last Serie A3 Championship Credem Banca and who will be part of Waldo Kantor’s roster also for the competitive year 22 / 23.
For both of them, the season ended was one of great growth, both technical and personal, for Maccarrone it was the first year as a free: “It is an honor to be able to represent my city in A3, to be under Kantor’s orders and in a club that looks to players as athletes and as people, I was also happy when I was able to give my contribution on the pitch. I hope, when I grow up, to become like Peppe Zito, I have a lot to learn from him. My Serie A is dedicated to my uncle, Vittorio Maccarrone, who passed away last year. He who played with Kantor and Hugo Conte was a great human and sporting example for me ”.
The club confirms itself as needle of the scales in the choice to stay for the players also for Battaglia: “They do everything to put us in a position to play at our best and this allows us to be calm. From last season I have a special memory of the first game as a starter played in Casarano and won 3-0, for next year I will work together with my teammates to bring trophies to the Saturnia showcase “.
Maccarrone and Battaglia are therefore confirmed as two important pawns for next season, as we read in the words of Ds Piero D’Angelo: “Matteo made his debut in the category at only 17 years old, he was decisive when he played and turned out to be one of the best in the field, this year he too will have his own space. Battaglia is a very important athlete for the team with his power in attack and batting, his game on the pitch makes the difference. “
