Cucine Lube Civitanova will play in Cagliari the Final Four of Del Monte® Supercoppa SuperLega 2022. The event will be held at PalaPirastu, organized by the Serie A Volleyball League in collaboration with the FIPAV Sardinia Regional Committee, the Sardinia Region and the Municipality of Cagliari.
In the Semifinal, the Italian champions of Cucine Lube Civitanova will face Modena Volley, while Sir Safety Susa Perugia will challenge Itas Trentino. The final for the cup between the two winners will be staged on the holiday of Tuesday 1 November.
Civitanova and the other three teams involved in the Final Four will not play the fifth first leg of the Regular Season SuperLega Credem Banca, scheduled for Sunday 30 October, as they are already in Sardinia for the dispute of the event, but they will play the matches of the fifth round of Championship on another date.
The top clubs have been absent from Sardinia since 1 November 2011, when Rado Stoytchev’s Itas Diatec Trentino, with Beppe Cormio in the yellow-blue leadership, defeated Flavio Gulinelli’s Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo 3-1. Jan Stokr was the Del Monte® MVP while with the Piedmontese shirt the Brazilian Vissotto (28 points) established himself as the best scorer of the match.
Beppe Cormio: “I believe that the choice of Cagliari, an enchanting territory, is positive for the promotion of volleyball, also for the proven organizational capacity of the Regional Committee of Eliseo Secci. I foresee an excellent synergy with the Serie A Volleyball League chaired by Massimo Righi. The Italian champion team often play the Final Four at home, but we have already organized several, the last one last year. I believe that varying the location fosters interest by giving many other people the opportunity to admire these cartel matches. Having married a Sardinian and having lived in Cagliari, I am very attached to this land. Among other things, the Cagliari palas brought me luck in 2011 when I won the Super Cup as a manager of Trento. This is an important facility that recently hosted a friendly match for the senior national team and which in 2021 saw the Italian U21 selection triumph in the World Cup Final with Russia. An important factor is the scheduling of the event. Playing after having already played a few shifts of the Regular Season can increase the show thanks to the presence of more tested and complete rosters! That Lube wants to honor all competitions is nothing new, but we care a lot about the 2022 Super Cup! The team will work hard to be ready! ”.
