Gerald Ndrecaj is the third middle blocker of the New Mater Volley Castellana Grotte for the 2022/2023 season and for the next national championship series A2 Credem Banca of men’s volleyball. President Nino Carpinelli and sporting director Bruno De Mori announced the arrival of the 1999 middle blocker, former Marcianise (A3 series).
Born in Catania on December 16, 1999, 197 cm, three consecutive years in Serie A3 in recent seasons (the last in Marcianise, the two previous to Ottaviano, a company with which he won a Serie B and a Serie B Italian Cup in 2019) , Ndrecaj completes the central department together with Matteo Zamagni and Luca Presta.
“I am very happy with the trust that the management of an important club such as New Mater Volley has placed in me – commented Ndrecaj – The expectations for next season are high, both because the level of the A2 series has risen so much and because as a team we want to do well. We must not fear anyone and play it at home and on all fields until the last ball. On a personal level I am ready to offer the maximum of my contribution, both during training and when called on the field. Castellana is an opportunity that I could not miss – commented the Sicilian center, also engaged during the summer in competitive activity on the sand of Catania and all over Italy – I will find in Puglia Dario Carelli who is a friend, but I am sure at the same time that we will not have difficulty in immediately creating a strong group with all the others. I have not had the opportunity to speak with Enrico Libraro, my teammate in Marcianise, and I have never had the opportunity to play there, but I know the Pala Grotte and its warmth: we hope to reciprocate the affection of the fans with the utmost commitment. “.
“Gerald will be in Serie A2 for the first year, but we have seen in him excellent athletic and character abilities – commented the sporting director of New Mater Volley, De Mori – I am sure he will make all his desire available to us, the his good will and his passion at the service of the team. We are very confident that he can show that he has grown throughout this year and that he will help us both in training and on the pitch ”.
