«In this initial period – says coach Gian Luca Colussi – we have set up a generic job. We are proceeding step by step, also because some of the guys had been standing still for a long time. Now, gradually, we have increased loads and volumes. And, inevitably, we will be a bit burdened “.
It is a first check for Colussi and his staff: “The objective of the test is above all cognitive. It goes for me as well, not just for the group. I want to get the first answers from the pitch, see how the boys move independently, get some ideas on a technical and tactical level. Because we may well be at the beginning, but these athletes know how to play volleyball. In short, I am interested in understanding where we are and how the team interprets a confrontation with an opponent of the same category ».
The result has a relative value: «True, but I’m an agonist – coach Colussi specifies -. I like to win. Although, more than the score, I am interested in having certain indications. I realize that, after just two weeks of training, immediately promoting a test with another team is premature. It usually tends to spend more time. But in this case it is useful to understand the aspects on which to affect the most ».
Once the face-to-face match at the Schiavonia sports hall has been filed away, there will be a double confrontation with a team of A1 like Itas Trentino (Friday 9, at Spes Arena) and one of A2 like Delta (Saturday 10, in Porto Viro) : «We will soon understand what we are made of».
