The preparation phase of the Biancazzurri athletes comes to life and, in the third week of work, they rediscover the field and the flavor of the competition. The first outing of the 2022/2023 season brings them to Castelnuovo di Sotto (RE) on Wednesday, ready to compete with the Volley Tricolore that dominated the Play Offs last year, then giving the Super League pass to Siena.

The home team is largely renewed, starting with the coach, Luca ‘Bazooka’ Cantagalli, father of two of the Conad athletes: Diego, a very strong opposite, and Marco, libero, in his first experience in the category. The new Emilian signings are Mariano (formerly Porto Viro), Maziarz (formerly Lagonegro), Elia (formerly Ortona), Perotto, Brazilian spiker. The direction is also new: Sperotto, second in Trento last year in the Superlega, is joined by Santambrogio, already in A2 with Castellana. Among the known faces, confirmed the spikers Suraci and Mian, in addition to the free Torchia, who returned to Reggio after three years.

“We have entered the jump from a couple of training sessions and we certainly do not expect a championship challenge – warns coach Zambonardi -, but the test matches serve above all to give us feedback on the level of knowledge of our group. We are eager to see how this team will instinctively respond to the first call against a Conad who is already ahead of us in the preparation phase. We will use joint training to give space to all players, to evaluate possible and diversified scenarios, to understand what potential we have in our hands. The guys have been working in the gym for a few weeks, but they need the stimulus of the competition to get to know each other and make themselves known. A step at a time”.

Kick-off at 5.15 pm at the Palazzetto in via Sant’Andrea 15 in Castelnovo di Sotto (RE)
