In the meantime, the vice president of the Sienese team Fabio Mechini takes stock of what was the year 2022 of the club of president Giammarco Bisogno. A year in which the Sienese first experienced the race that culminated in their salvation in the Serie A2 tournament, achieved thanks to the victory obtained in the sports hall of Santa Croce sull’Arno, and then made the leap to the Superlega, the most beautiful and with the strongest teams in the world.
Vice-President Mechini comments: “It was a very complicated 2022 from a volleyball point of view because first there were the difficulties we were facing in the Serie A2 championship. Up until the matches against Brescia and Ortona we knew the problems we had in front of us in achieving salvation, then there was a sudden and sudden change of course that even brought us close to the playoffs. In the second round we made a path comparable to the top of the standings. Then there was the decision to make the Superlega championship, with the difficulties encountered in building the team, the staff and maintaining the structure. The summer was not an easy time to go and prepare a team for the Superlega championship after we had started the transfer market knowing that we would take part in Serie A2. The start of the Superlega tournament was not easy. In December we knew we had complicated matches against Trento, Civitanova Marche and Perugia, obviously very difficult matches to play. In Perugia we had good flashes of play but then the value of the team that is world champion came out”.
