The skills developed during a professional sports career are certainly invaluable to athletes, even off the field. However, it is necessary to provide them with concrete direction: a training course that knows how to talk about business, innovation and development using the language of sport and looking to the future with pragmatism.
With this aim in mind, the Executive Program “Athletes Post Career” was created by Umana, one of the main employment agencies in Italy, which is constantly growing with 142 branches throughout the country, and Verde Sport, the family’s sports arm for 30 years Benetton, with its Sports Business School. An unprecedented 156-hour training course, starting in February 2023 and aimed at all athletes or ex-athletes who decide to undertake a future career in the managerial or entrepreneurial field.
The first distinguishing feature is the possibility of customizing the course according to one’s needs: after a common part, participants will in fact be able to choose how to best enrich the experience by inserting a series of specialized modules. The teaching will take place in a mixed mode online-in presence. Three thematic macro-areas focused on the training of the person/athlete, on the world of startups and on business organization models.
Two further absolute novelties: at the end of the theoretical path there will be hackathon sessions, during which the participants will challenge each other by devising innovative solutions for various companies and entrepreneurial projects. In addition, the job shadowing activity, so widespread overseas, or rather the opportunity for each student to spend time following an expert in the sports sector in person during his working day and learn by observing him.
