A project that smells of the future and ambition: it was presented at the meeting, is branded DRL Volley and aims to bring Belluno into the empyrean of Italian volleyball. The main architect can only be the president Sandro Da Rold: «Last season was very important. Not only for the return to A after 32 years, but because it marked the entry into a semi-professional world almost unknown to us. Lega Volley is nothing more than a consortium of 54 clubs that must respect certain rules aimed at guaranteeing a great show. A completely different environment from the minor leagues in which we have played for many years ».

The top management of the DRL have learned a lot in the past season: «We understood that the sports facilities in the area are also suitable for higher category championships, but above all that volleyball still has a large following in the city. The turnout of the public was important for the whole season: both when things went well, and in the finale, when everything went wrong. So we asked ourselves: if the public follows us with such affection even when we lose 7 games in a row, what can happen if the team plays for promotion? ».

This is why Sandro Da Rold, the vice president Andrea Gallina and the rest of the company have set the bar high: “We have set ourselves a clear goal: we want to reach the A2 series within two years – urges the top manager – . Now the team has been strengthened with the addition of young but very promising players. This is why I believe that, once the debts are made, we can fight for the first four places in the group. But it will be a year in which we will lay the groundwork for a winning 2023-24 season. And who knows that some young people of now may not be with us even in the higher category ».

Everything passes through the growth of the company: «We believe that such ambitious goals cannot be separated from a strengthening of the corporate structure. So much so that we decided to focus on the nursery with the double objective: to create a pool of players for the first team. And to start volleyball, which I consider the most formative sport in the world, as many children as possible. This is why we took over the entire men’s sector from the Spes company and appointed Paolo Bristot as head of the youth sector. In addition, a collaboration agreement has been signed with Gigi Schiavon, who will be our technical director for the nursery. We will also try to start collaborative projects with local companies, encouraging exchanges of young athletes ».

Sandro Da Rold has no doubts: «Due to the economic weight of the companies in the area and the passion of their fans, I believe that the province of Belluno can aspire to a prominent position. We are convinced that, by working with commitment and seriousness and with the support of the city, we will be able to reach the top of national volleyball within five years ».
