It was all very very nice!
The party for the first 20 years of Sir Volley took place last night at the “Casina Rossa” on the outskirts of Perugia. Over three hundred present including fans, sponsors, old and current managers, guests, former players, fans and so on and so forth for a splendid evening, a dip in memories, a story of twenty years that brought the “little” Sir Volleyball in Serie C in 2002 to the “great” Sir Volley current protagonist of international volleyball.
A journey taken step by step and told last night with images, photos, videos, guests, former players, all participants and protagonists of this story.
President Gino Sirci, the character capable of creating all this from scratch and of “seeing” before the others what would later be the explosion of Sir in men’s volleyball. The number one recalled this last night talking about that “first day” as president in Serie C together with the historic managers Sensi, Baldassarri and Bizzarri (another historic manager of the first seasons such as Lungarotti was also present) where the idea was to get to the top of the summit. And Gino Sirci arrived there together with the fundamental contribution of the sponsors, his collaborators, the many coaches and players who have dressed the black and white in twenty years. All thanked by the president.
Then there was the story of these twenty years, from Serie C in the 2002-2003 season to the last one just ended 2021-2022. A journey made up of words and anecdotes, of victories and defeats, of unpublished images and video contributions, greetings from many former Block Devils and much more. A journey that saw the presence last night at the party of some very welcome guests such as Erasmo Salemme, technician of the double promotion from C to B1, and as Marco Dani, Marco Ambrosini and Andrea Francesconi, athletes who passed to Bastia Umbra in the years of the B1 and still very attached to society. All honored, like Carmine Fontana who has been part of the Juventus technical staff since 2011, with a commemorative plaque signed by the president.
As a good custom in Sir Volley parties, toasts and lots of laughter soon took the stage and it was really beautiful and intense to remember indelible past emotions.
