Hristo Zlatanov was present at PalaBanca to support his former teammates of Wixo Lpr Piacenza in Del Monte Italian Cup Eight Finals versus Kioene Padova, but Piacenza fell down on the home turf, being defeated 1-3 by a great Kioene.
Former Diatec Trentino opposite Gabriele Nelli was the go to guy for Padova, a total factor in the crunch time of last three sets, Nelli finished with 23 points scored, and the natural award of Mvp of the game.
It was a good start for Wixo Lpr in the first set, strong down the net with Aimone Alletti and Viktor Yosifov, with Piacenza who won first set 25-23. Also in second Wixo was in frint, suffering the comeback of Kioene and losing the partial 24-26. Once again in the third Kioene was great in staying close in the score with Piacenza, winning again 26-24 the third, thanks to a great Gabriele Nelli. In fourth same clichet, Wixo Lpr with an early lead, collpasing around the twenty, suffiering the comeback of Padova and losing set and match 22-25. It was a great performance for all Valerio Baldovin’s team, without starter setter Dragan Travica, out for a muscular trouble to left leg. Fabio Balaso (Kione Padova): “It was a tough game, much more than the game versus Castellana Grotte. Piacenza played a good game, outting us in trouble, but we were good in come back and step up. I’m very happy, compliments to all the team, now we’ll go to Perugia”.
