Cucine Lube Civitanova earned the big final in World Championships for Clubs in Poland, by defeating home team Skra Belchatow coached by italian Roberto Piazza. After the wins in the pool versus defending champs brasilians Sada Cruzeiro, polish Zaksa and iranian Sarmayeh Bank VC, Giampaolo Medei’s team won the semifinal over Skra Belchatow in Krakow in three sets (25-23, 25-23, 25-23), clinching the access to the big final versus Euro Champs in Champions League russian Zenit Kazan at third consecutive final, always defeated by Sada Cruzeiro, this time defeated by Zenit with a clear 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-18).
For Lube Dragan Stankovic and Taylor Sander not at 100% after the recent injuries, Lube counted on a great Tsvetan Sokolov, 14 points for the bulgarian opposite, and on a solid game by Osmany Juantorena, 7 points for the cuban italian. Important game for the italian m,iddle blockers Davide Candellaro and Enrico Cester, a poower in the middle with 8 points apiece.

It was a clear one for Calzedonia Verona at Agsm Forum over Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia in first game of 12th Round of Unipolsai Superleague. Nikola Grbic’s team saw Mitar Djuric back on court finally, putting on the ground 3 points, slowly recovering for the physical troubles, in this third 3-0 win in a row. Mvp of the game was middle blocker Stefano Mengozzi, who put 10 ponts on the ground. More or less no problems for Calzedonia, who had the best scorers in Jaeschke and Maar, both with 11 points. For Tonno Callipo any chances in this game, with Oleg Antonov as best scorer with 15 points, and belgian middle blocker Pieter Werhees with 10.
Mitar Djuric (Calzedonia Verona): “I’m happy as a child eating an ice cream. After 8 months, feeling the court and the game, is great to me. I’m very happy for the win in this game, we deserved the three points, ow let’s think to next upcoming game in Cev Cup”.
Pieter Verhees (Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia): “We were wrong in the approach to the game, especially in first set. We made this gift to Verona, and we struggled alot to put some balls on the ground in the sideouts. And it’s very frustrating to do something good in these situations”.
