Unipolsai Superleague Quarterfinals Game 2
Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia struggled alot in Quarterfinals Game 1 at Eurosuole Forum versus Cucine Lube Civitanova, and now approaching Game 2 in front of their home fans at PalaValentia, they want to do something important, trying to force the series to Game 3 next sunday in Civitanova. Will not be easy for Waldo Kantor’s team, after the clear loss in Game 1, but if Tonno Callipo will five 100% they can play and out in troubles everyone. The good news of sunday’s game was the debut in Superleague of 17 year old spiker Ernesto Torchia. Cucine Lube Civitanova is determined to close the series in Calabria, taking home the semifinals spot and looking froward to next games in Italy and in Europe. It’s always important to finish the series when there’s the chance to do it, never say never in volleyball, especially in Superleague.
Gi Group Monza is looking for the tie in the series versus Diatec Trentino, after the clear loss last sunday at PalaTrento. Monza, who will show the news sponsorship and partnership with Unilever Italia and Algida ice creams, will try to come back in the series, forcing the quarterfinal to Game 3 in Trento, but will not be easy, as we saw in the previous two games between these two teams in last week, one in regular season and one in playoffs. Diatec Trentino, second place finisher in regular season and Italian Cup finalist, is a team determined to reach the Superleague final. Angelo Lorenzetti’s team will face former Trento’s player Leandro Vissotto, and will be obviously the favourite for the win in the series, after the great game played on sunday.
LPR Piacenza will need to step up at PalaBanca to come back in the series after the clear loss at PalaEvangelisti in Perugia versus Sir Safety Conad in Game 1. Will be a no tomorrow game for Alberto Giuliani’s team, who will need a monstre performance to force the series to Game 3 next sunday. Luciano De Cecco, Perugia’s setter, is a former Piacenza player, from 2012 until 2014. Sir Safety Conad Perugia will play in Piacenza the first “match ball” of the series, looking forward to semifinals, where they evenctually face the winner of Lube-Tonno Callipo series. Lorenzo Bernardi’s team is the big favourite of this series, but Piacenza is a team who can put in trouble also powerhouses like Perugia.
Calzedonia Verona has a big chance to eliminate the defending champs, after the road win last saturday at PalaPanini in Game 1. This will be an historical goal for Verona, a team who never reached Semifinals for the title in club history. After Nikola Grbic’s team win in Modena, this goal seems to be very near. Azimut Modena is still there, they want to fight until the last ball on the ground to defend the title, if they will win at Agsm Forum in Verona they will force the series to Game 3 at PalaPanini. Will be a tough challenge for Tubertini’s team, but Modena, with their history and their tradition, is ready for the fight.

Emma Villas Siena is in trouble in this part of the season. After the first part of championship and the great win in Italian Cup, Paolo Tofoli’s team struggled in last games of Pool Promozione, now versus Ceramica Globo Civita Castellana they will have the chance to change the trend, but the team from Viterbo will be a tough opponent. The team from Lazio is in sixth place with 20 points, coming from a 3-1 win on the home turf versus Sigma Aversa.
BCC Castellana Grotte still atop the standings with 29 points despite the loss sunday night in Spoleto, where they lost 1-3 at PalaRota. On the home turf at PalaGrotte, BCC Castellana Grotte will face Conad Reggio Emilia, a team already defeated by BCC in three of last five games. Pupo Dall’Olio’s team is coming from a great home win at PalaBigi on powehouse Emma Villas Siena, and needs to grab some points to continue the positive trend.
Maury’s Italiana Assicurazioni Tuscania is in seventh place in Pool Promozione standings with 19 points, tied with Reggio Emilia, after the loss in Lombardia versus Caloni Agnelli Bergamo. They will play on the home turf versus powerhouse Monini Spoleto, in a great volleyball showdown. Now Spoleto is coming from a good moment, down only 1 point from the top of the standings, BCC Castellana Grotte with 29 points.
In ninth place with 12 points there is Kemas Lamipel S. Croce, still with this amount o fpoints after the recent loss at PalaManera in Mondovìversus VBC. For Santa Croce will not be an easy night versus Caloni Agnelli Bergamo, probably the best team in this Pool Promozione until now, running a great moment of shape. After the convincing win versus Emma Villas Siena, Bergamo defeated easily also Tuscania at PalaNorda.
Sigma Aversa is at the bottom of the standings in Pool Promozione with only 10 points, after the last loss on the road suffered by Ceramica Globo Civita Castellana. On tomorrow at PalaJacazzi Sigma Aversa will face VBC Mondovì, a team who always defeated Aversa in the two previous games between the teams. Mondovì is in fifth place in the standings after the home win versus Kemas Lamipel Santa Croce.
