The Block Devils showed some improvement in their second friendly game against Ravenna compared to the one played three days ago. Russel stood out once again with superb attacking and sharp serving. Buti and Birarelli were back and they made their presence felt too by reaching double figures and with some nice work at the net (Giovi was cautiously rested). The team tallied 15 blocks and 8 aces.
“Tonight we could see better the work we had done in the gym – said coach Boban Kovac – We did a good job on the serve and in the block-dig area, I am satisfied. But in the first set we struggled to receive their serve and that must not happen, especially at home, we have to be the ones to be aggressive. But the team played some good volleyball, I liked the long rallies that we did. On Monday we’ll start the last phase of our work to be ready for Thursday”. On Monday, the team will have Atanasijevic and the Germans Fromm and Kaliberda back in the squad after their qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games with their national teams.
