Piacenza has all its middle blockers following the addition of the best of the SuperLega 2015-16 in that department: Viktor Yosifov. Born in Omurtak, Bulgaria, in 1985, the 205cm tall athlete came back to Italy last season with Latina after some spells in Russia and Germany (Winner of the national cup). Before that, he was already in Italy, playing for Roma from 2009 to 2011, where he made the double A2 cup-promotion. He then moved to Modena in the A1 before joning Castellana Grotte in the top division too. He obtained his first call from the Bulgarian national team in 2009, when he helped his team take the bronze in the European Championships in Turkey. That year, he was the best blocker of the event and he was also named best middle blocker of the European Championships 2015.

“After two years in Russia, I really wanted to come back to Italy – said Yosifov – The Italian league is definitely the best and most entertaining in the world. The main difference with other championships is that the Italian teams are better prepared tactically and technically. I chose Piacenza because this is one of the most important clubs in Italy and they have an ambitious project. Piacenza had a couple of seasons that did not meet the expectations but I am convinced that with the players coming in we can have an excellent season”.
