Perugia has all the spikers it needs for the coming season thanks to the latest addition of Alexander Berger. The Austrian international had an excellent 2015-16 season in the SuperLega with Padova. Born in Aichkirchen on Septembern 27, 1988, he will share the minutes with the three other spikers, Russell, who was extended, and the two new signings Zaytsev and Della Lunga. This will allow coach Kovac to have all sorts of possible tactical combinations on the wing. Last season Berger scored a total of 274 points (nearly 45% in attack), 17 aces and 27 blocks. Besides his great profile as an athlete, Berger is also very much appreciated for his ability to bring discipline on court, for his character, mental qualities and competitive spirit.

“I am really happy! – he said – When I got the call I certainly did not need any time to reflect, this is a very serious and ambitious club and a very strong team. They had a fantastic season last year and the fans are so passionate there”. Before coming to Italy, Berger won four Austrian titles, an Austrian cup and the Mevza tournament in just five years in Tirol Innsbruck. He also had a season at Nantes, France, in 2014-15.
