A big crowd came to see the visit of Milan in Modena. The visitors got off to a strong start, two Vettori aces got the hosts back in it at 22 all but Milan clinched it. Starovic and co used the momentum to escape early in the second and they would hang on to their lead to go 2-0 up. The home team’s reaction came in the third, while both teams played well in the fourth. Modena needed their best to force a tie-break in which they completed the come-back. MVP Earvin Ngapeth (Azimut Modena)

Roberto Piazza (Coach Azimut Modena Volley): “We won a tough game against a team that played excellent volleyball. These are valuable points for us ».

Luca Monti (coach Revivre Milano): “We had a great game against a top level team. We went very close from victory, I can only congratulate my players ».

An important and hard-fought victory for Latina over Ravenna. Three points which means they are not bottom of the table anymore. They move above Padova, Milan and Sora. This will give the team some confidence ahead of three very tough encounters against Civitanova, Trento and Modena. MVP Carmelo Gitto (Top Volley Latina)

Carmelo Gitto (Top Volley latina): “This is a crucial victory for us. This will give us a boost and confidence to win other games like this one. We played as a team, I don’t feel like the MVP of the encounter ».

Fabio Soli: (coach Bunge Ravenna): “We came here to try to get as much as we could from it but we did not manage to get anything. The first set hurt us, we did not manage to win it in spite of our comfortable lead. Latina stepped up and eventually won it ».

Gi Group Monza – Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia 3-1 (15-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-11)

Gi Group Monza: Jovovic 5, Botto 11, Beretta 7, Hirsch 10, Fromm 14, Verhees 15, Brunetti (L), Rizzo (L), Dzavoronok 3, Galliani 0. DNP. Forni, Terpin, Daldello. Coach. Falasca.

Monza is all smile after its four-set win over Vibo Valentia in front of 1500 fans, among whom there were two icons of International volleyball like Hugo Conte and Scott Lindberg. Behind 18 points from Michalovic, Monza obtained its fifth home win of the season. MVP Pieter Verhees (Gi Group Monza)

Miguel Àngel Falasca (Coach Gi Group Monza): “I have to congratulate the boys for today’s performance. This might be one of the absolute best games of the season. Vibo got off to a strong start, they played a first set with great intensity both on the serve and in attack. But we were organised at the net and we did well to react with determination in the second set thanks to an excellent distribution from Jovovic and some better serves. These are three important points thanks to a great team performance».

Rocco Barone (Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia): “It’s disappointing because we had a great first set and did not manage to build on it. It has to be said that Verhees and Botto had incredible run of serves. Shame we lost touch in the fourth too, we could have handled it differently. We cannot put our heads down though after this defeat. We had done well of late, and even tonight we had some good spells, so let’s keep working like that ».

Exprivia Molfetta – Calzedonia Verona 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 27-25)

Molfetta showed all its strength and character to get rid of Verona in straight sets. Without coach Giani, who resigned this week, Verona was still determined to do well but Molfetta looked very strong in attack (56%) and could count on the MVP Sabbi, who contributed with no less than 20 points. Rafael added 15 and Olteanu 11.

Uros Kovacevic (Calzedonia Verona): “We had some tough days after our coach resigned. This is a tricky moment for us, we have to react immediately and show our worth. I want to thank coach De Cecco for the effort in the past few days but we have to give credit to Molfetta who had an excellent game. Now we just have to work and regain confidence in our abilities ».

Bogdan Olteanu (Exprivia Molfetta): “We had an excellent game, but it’s true we often play our best volleyball at home. I think we did exceptionnally well today in dig and that helped us get the points. From Tuesday we’ll focus on Vibo, from now on all the games will be extremely tough ».

Padova gave a hard time to Perugia at the beginning of the encounter but then the Block Devils came away with all three points. Former Padova star Berger did the job for Perugia in the clutch time and was named MVP.

Valerio Baldovin (Coach Kioene Padova): “We showed some character and executed well tactically. We faded towards the end, but overall it’s been a good performance. Both in the Italian Cup and today, all the boys who stepped on court gave a valuable contribution. We’ll have to play the same way gainst Trento and Modena, without fear and fighting for every point ».

Lorenzo Bernardi (Coach Sir Safety Conad Perugia): “Padova surprised us in the first set with their serve and attack. This week we had various worries but we never gave up and took control of the game from the second set ».

LPR Piacenza – Cucine Lube Civitanova 1-3 (22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 23-25)

Piacenza could not find the breakthrough against Civitanova. Without Leo Marshall, Giuliani’s men played without fear against the leaders. The latter, however, had Sokolov and Juantorena (MVP) at their best.

Zlatanov Hristo (LPR Piacenza): “We’re a bit disappointed because we felt we were close to be able to turn things around. We lack a little consistency in those encounters. We still have to find our rhythm in those games, but we proved once again we could give a game to anyone. I am happy to be back on court after a long time out but I can still improve a lot on my game ».

Gianlorenzo Blegini (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “I expected a tough game and so it was. Piacenza is a team with character and talent, they can make it hard for anyone as we’ve seen against Trento and Modena. It’s been a tight game, I had asked my boys to stay calm and composed in the difficult times. I am gald we got this victory and the three points ».
